If, like me, you’re not in Edinburgh for the festival, you might be looking for something to do. Here are my top 5 tips for that.
1/ Shoot Zombies:
Seriously! Gary Delaney and I did one of those Zombie survival experiences a couple of weeks ago for my birthday (11 months to the day AFTER my birthday in fact) and it was an absolute hoot! My highlight was the following incident, faithfully recreated, when Gary and I were searching offices for Zombies.
Caimh: “Zombie in the corner!”
Gary: “Come on out big fella.”
Caimh: “It’s a lady Zombie.”
Gary: “Come on out big girl. Oh God sorry, I didn’t mean that to sound offensive.”
That’s right, G-unit apologised for accidentally misogyny to a zombie. Priceless!
2/ Podcast: All Killa, No Filla
If you like you some Podcast, this is a great one. It’s about serial killers. Grerat combination of comedy and genuine information. Kiri and Rachel are just discussing a fascinating subject and it’s definitely done in the right way, although I’d hate to read their fanmail.
3/Watch the greatest film ever
Well definitely one of. I have watched ‘The Apartment’ about twenty times and it is superb. I’m not one who bangs on about how stuff was always better back in the day but this is an all-time great comedy film. Jack Lemon and Shirley MacLaine are incredible in it. It’s on Netflix – enjoy!
4/ Go for a walk!
But not just any walk – get yourself a fitbit and make a stroll into a competition, either with yourself or somebody else. I’m Caimh M on fitbit and I shall happily take on all challengers – bring it!
5/ Read a Book
No, not mine – it isn’t out just yet silly! Instead treat yourself to Christopher Brookmyre. He, Dennis Lehane and Terry Pratchett are probably my top 3 favourite authors. If I had to pick just one Brookmyre to read, I’d go with ‘The Sacred Art of Stealing’ – then you’ll just go and read all the rest. He is that good!
